The Centre for Theology and Philosophy in Eastern Orthodoxy at the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies (IOCS) has launched an onsite/online Reading Group at IOCS, 31 Jesus Lane, Wesley House, Cambridge CB5 8BJ, or online via Zoom.
The aim of the Reading Group is to reflect on the relationship of theology and philosophy in Eastern Orthodoxy (as well as other traditions). Meetings will take place every two weeks.
The Theology and Philosophy Reading Group will resume its discussion on Tuesday 6 May 2025 from 4-5pm (BST). The meetings will take place fortnightly via Zoom.
The topic for Trimester 3 (May to July 2025) will be Phenomenology and Orthodox Theology. We will read and discuss:
- Emmanuel Falque, The Loving Struggle. Phenomenological and Theological Debates. Translated by Bradley B. Onishi and Lucas McCracken. London/New York: Rowman & Littlefield International, 2018.
- French original: Emmanuel Falque, Le combat amoureux: disputes phénoménologiques et théologiques. Paris: Hermann, 2014.
If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Dr Christoph Schneider at cs300@iocs.cam.ac.uk.
