An Anglia Ruskin University degree created and taught by the Cambridge Theological Federation
Our Master of Arts (MA) courses are conceived to explore the conversation between the Orthodox tradition and theology – and Christianity, more generally – and the contemporary world in both east and west, and to reflect on the contributions that theology can positively bring vis-à-vis the main questions and trends with which societies of today grapple.
All our MA courses are run in an ecumenical context and taught jointly with the other colleges of the Cambridge Theological Federation.
IOCS has for its students a special ‘Orthodox pathway’ whereby they can complete the degree by following modules taught mostly by the IOCS, with the final dissertation on an Orthodox theme chosen by the student, with Orthodox supervision.
With our MA in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care you will join a lively debate in the unique ecumenical context of the Cambridge Theological Federation on the meaning and the role of spirituality in the context of the Christian traditions as well as in today’s multi-cultural and multi-religious environments. With our ‘Orthodox pathway’ in the Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care MA, we offer the sole Orthodox MA in Chaplaincy in the UK. This is also an accredited course by the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplaincy for registration and CPD purposes. This course provides the study credits essential to practice as a Chaplain in a hospital or other healthcare environment.
COURSE STRUCTURE / MODULES: The MA consists of FIVE modules (Including the Dissertation Module). Two of the four taught modules and the final dissertation are compulsory, the other two taught modules are optional and can be chosen from the list below:
