The Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies is a UK registered charity (Reg No 1076519) and it is funded through individual donations from our friends, supporters and benefactors. Please support IOCS here or by establishing a standing order or by sending a cheque. US donors can make tax-exempt donations via ‘Cambridge in America’ (please see below).
What can my gift do?
Any donation, however small, one-off or regular, is an important help for the institute.
- As little as £5 per month would help us greatly in enriching and maintaining our electronic Library. Click here to find out more or establish a £5 regular donation for our e-library!
- A regular donation of £20 per month enables us to continuously advertise for our courses internationally and get people to know the riches of Orthodoxy.
- A regular donation of £100 per month enables us to offer Scholarships for our Certificate course throughout the year.
- A regular donation of £500 per month enables us to brings one (or more) Sabbatical Fellows to the Institute every year.
Please contact us directly for more substantial donations:
- £3,850 covers half the fees for an M.A. student
- £5,000 supports a conference at an IOCS Research Centre
- £5,200 brings a Sabbatical Fellow to the Institute
- £10,000 for developing our Institute’s website.
- £37,500 allows one doctoral student to complete his/her studies. (More details on the St Sophrony Scholarship here).
- £291,100 endows the Lectureship in Orthodox and Ecumenical Studies for five years. (More details on the Lectureship here).

Whether you make a donation online, by Standing Order or by cheque, if you are a UK taxpayer, you may be able to increase the value of any donation you make by 25%. This is because the Institute is able to reclaim basic rate tax on the gross amount donated. Please download the Gift Aid Declaration form here, fill it in and send it back to our address by post (‘Gift Aid’, IOCS, 31 Jesus Lane, Wesley House, Cambridge CB5 8BJ).
US donors benefit of income tax deductions via Cambridge in America (CAm):
You can send a contribution to our Institute via Cambridge in America (CAm), which is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organisation (recognised by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service) which funds grants that benefit Cambridge University, its member Colleges and some of its allied institutions. In compliance with IRS regulations, the Board of Directors of Cambridge in America maintains complete discretion over the allocation of gifts to Cambridge. Should you chose to donate through CAm, you will receive a gift receipt letter from CAm that can be used for U.S. tax purposes.
