Revd Dr John Binns, a Visiting Professor of the Institute and Vicar of Great St Mary’s the University Church Cambridge, has published his very important book on The Orthodox Church of Ethiopia: A History in May 2017, through I.B. Tauris.
The Ethiopian Church, with a membership of around forty million and rapidly growing has not been the subject of any comprehensive study in English tackling its theology and history. The Church of Ethiopia has a recognized place in worldwide Christianity as one of five non-Chalcedonian Orthodox Churches. As Revd Dr John Binns shows, it has developed a distinctive approach which makes it different from all other churches. His book explains why this happened and how these special features have shaped the life of the Christian people of Ethiopia.
